‘The Odyssey’ crosses Tk 1 crore in Bangladesh multiplexes

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey has crossed the Tk 1 crore mark in Bangladeshi multiplexes, becoming the 10th film of 2026 to achieve the milestone.
According to BMR, the film earned Tk 21.34 lakh on its third day from 51 shows at Star Cineplex, taking its cumulative collection in Bangladeshi multiplexes past Tk 1 crore.
Earlier, the film had recorded the highest opening of the year at multiplexes in Bangladesh. It opened with nearly Tk 38 lakh from the country’s Cineplex. On its opening day, Star Cineplex screened 49 shows of the film, with 21 shows houseful and three nearly full, while the average occupancy stood at 66 percent.
Globally, The Odyssey has made a strong start at the box office, earning nearly $40 million worldwide within the first few days of its release, equivalent to around Tk 490 crore.
According to international box office data, the film collected $17.6 million from preview screenings in North America alone, setting a record for the highest preview earnings of the year. The previous record was held by Toy Story Fove, which earned $17.5 million from previews.
Outside North America, the film added another $22.2 million from 73 international markets. It is being screened on more than 25,000 screens across over 13,300 cinemas worldwide, including in China, Japan and South Korea.
The film has also topped the box office in several European and Oceanian markets, earning nearly $5 million in France, $3.7 million in Australia and $2.5 million in Italy. It has also surpassed the opening records of Nolan’s previous films in Mexico, Germany and Brazil.
In India, The Odyssey also received a strong response on its opening day, grossing Rs 20.76 crore (around Tk 29 crore).
Based on Homer’s ancient Greek epic, The Odyssey is written and directed by Christopher Nolan. The film follows King Odysseus’ perilous journey back to his kingdom of Ithaca after the Trojan War. Matt Damon stars as Odysseus, alongside Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya and Charlize Theron in key roles.
