SRB begins its journey with identical RAB logo

Special Response Battalion officially began its journey on Wednesday replacing the Rapid Action Battalion; but the logo of RAB is still being used as the logo of SRB.

SRB’s official journey began a day after the Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat issued a gazette notification in this connection on Tuesday.

SRB legal and media wing director wing commander MZM Intekhab Chowdhury said that the official journey of the SRB began on Wednesday.

Asked about the logo, banners and other things that remained the same, Intekhab said that the gazette notification was issued on Tuesday.

‘We will change everything, including the logo, dress, banners and other things gradually. We will have to send it to the home ministry for approval for changing anything,’ he added.

On September 10, Jatiya Sangsad passed two bills to dissolve the Rapid Action Battalion and establish Special Response Battalion, while expanding the investigative powers of the Armed Police Battalions, despite strong opposition from opposition lawmakers.

Home minister Salahuddin Ahmed placed the bills before Jatiya Sangsad, which was passed by voice vote.

RAB was accused of being involved in human rights violations, including extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearance during the period of the Awami League government, which was toppled amid a student-led mass uprising on August 5, 2024.
