Major reshuffle in police as 6 Addl IGPs, 5 DIGs transferred

The government has made a major reshuffle in 11 top police posts, including the chiefs of the Special Branch and Tourist Police.

The Ministry of Home Affairs issued two separate gazette notifications—one for six additional inspectors general of police and another for five deputy inspectors general of police—on Thursday, citing public interest.

SB chief Sardar Nurul Amin was transferred to the Police Headquarters as additional IGP, while PHQ additional IGP Kamrul Ahsan was transferred as the new SB chief, according to the notification.

Tourist Police chief additional IGP Md Mainul Hasan was transferred as principal of the Bangladesh Police Academy in Rajshahi, while BPA principal GM Azizur Rahman was transferred as Tourist Police chief.

Central Police Hospital in Rajarbagh director deputy inspector general of police Saidur Rahman, who was promoted to additional IGP, was transferred to PHQ as additional IGP, while DIG Dhaka Range Md Iqbal Hossain, also promoted to additional IGP, was transferred to PHQ as additional IGP.

In another Home Ministry gazette notification, Dhaka Range DIG Md Rezaul Karim was transferred as DIG of Khulna Range, while DIG Khulna Range Md Mustafizur Rahman was transferred as DIG of Dhaka Range.

Anti-Terrorism Unit DIG Mohammad Muslim was transferred as director of CPH in Rajarbagh, while SB DIG Mir Ashraf Ali was transferred as DIG of Railway Police, the notification said. Mass Rapid Transit, Metrorail DIG Siddiqui Tanzilur Rahman was transferred as SB DIG.
