Two minor siblings drowned in a pond in Anwara upazila of Chattoram on Monday evening.
The deceased were identified as Ritu Akter, 8 and her 2-year-old minor brother Hamdan, children of Whidul Alam, hailing from Dakshin Ishakhali village at Haildhar union of the upazila.
Locals said that Hamdan fell into a pond nearby his house while playing beside it on Monday afternoon and drowned. Later, Ritu jumped into the pond to rescue Hamdan and she also drowned.
