Mirza Abbas returns home today after medical treatment

BNP Standing Committee Member and Prime Minister’s Political Adviser Mirza Abbas is set to return home today after receiving medical treatment in Singapore and Malaysia for more than five months.

The flight carrying him is scheduled to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 9:00pm on Wednesday (2 September).

BNP Media Cell member Sayrul Kabir Khan confirmed the matter, saying that Mirza Abbas has recovered considerably and is returning home on the advice of the medical board.

On 11 March, Mirza Abbas suddenly lost consciousness during iftar. As his condition did not improve, he was admitted to Evercare Hospital later that night.

On 15 March, after his physical condition deteriorated, he was flown from Dhaka to Singapore by air ambulance. Following treatment there, he was taken to Malaysia for further advanced medical care.

Mirza Abbas was elected Member of Parliament from the Dhaka-8 constituency in the 13th national parliamentary election 2026.
