The government has extended the deadline for Bangladeshi expatriates to correct information in their passports by six months, allowing them to apply for the issuance or reissuance of passports with updated personal details until 31 December 2026.

The extension was announced in a recent notification issued by the Expatriation-4 Wing of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The notification was signed by Deputy Secretary Mohammad Nuruzzaman.

According to the notification, the government decided to extend the validity of its previous order for another six months to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of passport services to Bangladeshi expatriates and in the public interest.

As a result, Bangladeshis residing overseas who need to correct information such as their name, date of birth, parents’ names or other personal details in their passports will be able to apply for the issuance or reissuance of passports with the corrected information within the extended timeframe.

The Ministry of Home Affairs said the previous order, issued on 8 July 2025, had been valid until 30 June 2026.

Under the latest decision, the deadline has now been extended to 31 December 2026.
