Two more children have died of measles symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours. With this, the death toll from measles and its symptoms has reached 805 since March 15.
Additionally, 1,014 children were reported with measles and its symptoms over the past day.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information in its regular measles report on Thursday (July 23).
According to the DGHS, two children died of measles symptoms in the last 24 hours, one each in Sylhet and Rangpur divisions.
With these latest deaths, a total of 805 children have died from measles and related symptoms across the country from March 15 to Thursday. Among them, 710 died from measles symptoms, while 95 died after testing positive for measles.
Meanwhile, 166 new measles cases were confirmed nationwide in the last 24 hours. Besides, 848 more children showed symptoms of the disease during this period.
Since March 15, a total of 121,200 people have shown measles symptoms nationwide. During the same period, 15,007 people tested positive for the disease.
The DGHS report further stated that a total of 103,863 children with measles and its symptoms were admitted to hospitals across the country between March 15 and Thursday. Of them, 100,188 children have recovered and been discharged so far.
