Popular Dhallywood actress Shobnom Bubly is preparing to make her return to acting after taking a break to focus on motherhood.

Now, the actress is gearing up for a comeback. If everything goes according to plan, Bubly will return to the camera in September with the shooting of “Dhakaiya Devdas”, directed by Zahid Hossain. She will star opposite actor Ador Azad in the film.

Confirming the development, director Zahid Hossain said that discussions with Bubly have already taken place and that she has agreed to resume shooting in September.

“We have spoken to Bubly. She has promised to return to shooting in September, subject to some improvements in her physical condition,” he told the media.

“Dhakaiya Devdas” revolves around the language, culture and lifestyle of Old Dhaka. The film explores the city’s rich heritage through a romantic narrative rooted in its unique social and cultural traditions.

According to Zahid Hossain, Bubly is currently prioritising her daughter and focusing on regaining her physical fitness before returning to work. As a result, the production team will begin filming scenes that do not require her presence.

“Since Bubly needs some more time to take care of her child and herself, we are planning to start shooting the other portions first. Our goal is to make a complete and authentic film about Old Dhaka,” the director said.

Although the title may suggest a commercial entertainer, Zahid Hossain revealed that the project has a broader vision. He said “Dhakaiya Devdas” is primarily being made with international film festivals in mind, with a theatrical release in Bangladesh planned afterward.
