A pickup-van carrying vegetables plunged into a roadside canal after losing control in Kaliganj upazila of Gazipur, leaving three people dead.
Officer-in-charge of Kaliganj police station Md Alauddin said that the accident occurred in Haridebpur area at about 6:00am on Wednesday when the speeding vehicle overturned and plunged into the water body on its way to Gazipur city from a village with vegetables.
He said the victims could not emerge from the vehicle in the water as its windows were closed, leaving them dead.
The identities of the deceased could not be known yet, the OC said.
