The trailer of the film “Mastul” offers a poignant look into the little-known lives of people who live and work on rivers. Released on Wednesday, the two-minute preview unfolds a compelling story set against the backdrop of river ports and the struggles of marginalised communities.

The trailer introduces Maqbool, a cook aboard a floating oil tanker, whose lonely existence is revealed through his daily routines, quiet reflections and constant fight for survival. Running alongside his story is that of Nura, a street child navigating life along the bustling riverfront. Together, their journeys explore themes of hardship, hope and resilience.

Mastul has already earned international acclaim. It received the Special Mention award in the main competition section of the 47th Moscow International Film Festival and won Best Artistic Contribution at the 18th Cheboksary International Film Festival in Russia. The film was also nominated for Best Humanitarian Film at the 26th Imagine India International Film Festival in Spain.

Directed by Mohammad Nuruzzaman, the film stars Fazlur Rahman Babu, Deepak Suman, Aminur Rahman Mukul, Arif Hasan, Sikder Mukit, Shahjahan Shovon and Sifat Banya.
