Brigadier General Miftah taken into Army custody

Brigadier General Miftah Uddin Ahmed was taken into the Bangladesh Army custody over the allegation of his involvement in the extrajudicial killing of Councillor Akramul Haque in 2018.

Inter Services Public Relation directorate said that Brigadier General Miftah Uddin Ahmed was taken to custody on Monday night.

‘The next course of legal action will be taken against him,’ said the ISPR.

On Sunday International Crimes Tribunal-2 issued arrest warrants for deposed prime minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina and 10 others in a case over the alleged crime against humanity committed over the 2018 extrajudicial killing of Ekramul Haque in a reported ‘crossfire’ in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar.

The then Lieutenant Colonel Miftah was the commanding officer of the Rapid Action Battalion -7 at that time.
