Citing that the next Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exams cannot be held within schedule due to Ramadan, Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon said on Monday that the SSC exams will be held after Ramadan to give students enough scope to study and revise.

There is no plan to postpone the exams, he added.

The minister made the remarks while speaking at a press briefing on his latest China visit at the meeting room of Technical and Madrasah Education Division in the education ministry.

Milon said, “The overall situation has been reviewed while fixing the timeline for SSC exams. If the exams begin in January, it will continue for one month and will fall into the first week of February. The Ramadan will run from 10 February to 10 March. As a result, the exams cannot be held during this time.”

“We had planned to take the exams early after discussing with the concerned authorities and reviewing every aspect. But the exams cannot be held on time due to Ramadan. The government does not want to harm the students in any way. They need enough time, specially for revising their lessons. This is why another decision has been taken to take the exams after Ramadan,” Milon added.

Prime Minister’s Education Adviser Mahdi Amin and Secretary of Technical and Madrasah Education Division Md Dawood Mia were present during this time.
