A trader was killed allegedly by another trader following a money dispute after selling beef at Sener Bazar in Rupsha upazila of Khulna district on Friday night.

The deceased, identified as Arif, was a butcher and son of Mohammad Ali from Sadar upazila.

Shariful Islam, in-charge of Aichgati Police Camp, said Arif and Rubel had financial dealings at Sener Bazar.

Around 8:30pm on Friday, an altercation broke out between them over the transaction of Tk 2.5 lakh, leading to a scuffle.

At one point, Rubel attacked Arif with a machete, leaving him critically injured.

Arif was rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital, where he died from his injuries at about 10:45pm.

Police are conducting raids to arrest Rubel.
