Eight members of the Detective Branch (DB) of police were injured when a microbus carrying them collided head-on with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Sreebardi upazila of Sherpur on Wednesday night.
The accident occurred at around 8:00pm in the Bharera area on the Sreebardi-Kuruya road, police said.
According to officials, the DB personnel were travelling in the microbus to conduct an operation when the collision took place.
Three officers who sustained serious injuries were admitted to the 250-bed Sherpur District Sadar Hospital, while the remaining injured personnel received primary medical treatment.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the District Detective Branch Rezaul Islam Khan said construction materials had been left on the road in an unplanned manner, contributing to the accident.
“The piled-up construction materials reduced visibility for drivers in the darkness, causing the two vehicles to collide head-on,” he said.
Further details about the condition of the injured officers were not immediately available.
