A female passenger died after falling ill aboard a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from Jeddah to Chattogram on Wednesday, prompting the aircraft to make an emergency landing in Oman’s capital, Muscat.

The deceased was identified as 55-year-old Sanowara Begum, a resident of Chattogram.

Sanowara became unwell shortly after Biman flight BG-136 departed from Jeddah.

The flight was diverted to Muscat as the passenger’s condition deteriorated.

She was taken to a local hospital after the aircraft landed in Muscat, where doctors declared her dead.

Arrangements were being made through the Bangladesh Embassy in Oman to repatriate her body.

The flight subsequently resumed its journey, landing at Chattogram’s Shah Amanat International Airport at approximately 2:46pm.
