Apurba eyes regular presence on the big screen!

Ziaul Faruq Apurba has long been a familiar face on Bangladesh’s small screen and OTT platforms. Now, the popular actor is preparing to make a more regular presence in films. After nearly a decade away from the big screen, Apurba is currently in talks with directors and producers about four films.

Apurba made his film debut in 2015 with “Gangster Returns”. He then stayed away from cinema for almost a decade before returning in 2024 with the Tollywood film Chalchitra. This time, however, the actor does not want another lengthy break.

Although discussions are underway for four films, none has been finalised yet. Apurba is being cautious about making any announcement until the projects are confirmed.

“The discussions have not been finalised yet. I can only say this much: there are talks about four films at once. Many times, even after shooting begins, a film does not end up being made. That is why I do not want to say anything in advance. If the movie is not released later, the audience’s trust may be lost. When I understand what is really happening, I will officially inform everyone,” he said to media.

Meanwhile, Apurba recently added a new dimension to his career with his first-ever solo concert in New York, USA.

Back home, Apurba has resumed his acting commitments. He has already completed dramas directed by Mashrikul Alam and Mahmudur Rahman Heme. He is also scheduled to work with directors Syed Shakil, Rubel Hasan, Jakaria Showkhin, Mursalin Shuvo and S R Majumdar.

The actor plans to complete around eight dramas before travelling to the United States again. After returning from the US, he intends to spend an extended period in Bangladesh.

Talking about his first solo concert, Apurba admitted that he was initially nervous because it was his first musical performance. “Since this was the first concert of my life, there was a lot of pressure on me. As we did not have any sponsors, the challenge was even greater. I was a little scared at first,” he said.

However, the audience’s enthusiastic response quickly eased his concerns. He was especially moved that people travelled from different states to attend the New York event. Several Bangladeshi artistes living in the US also joined him.
