A fire broke out at the eighth floor of a 12-storey residential building at Road no 5 of Dhanmondi on Wednesday morning.
The fire started at about 10:25am, said Shahjahan Sikder, deputy-assistant director of Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters media cell.
Six firefighting units doused the flames at about 11:15am, he added.
Three people were injured in the incident.
