A female student of Jahangirnagar University (JU) was found dead with multiple injuries at a rented house near the campus area.

The deceased, Sharmin Jahan, 23, was a student of the Department of Public Administration of the 2021–22 academic session (51st batch).

She had been living in a rented house in the Islamnagar area near the campus with her husband, Fahim Al Hasan.

According to Fahim, he returned home around 2pm and found the door locked from the outside. After entering the house, he saw Sharmin lying on the floor with head injuries and bleeding.

He later rushed her to Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar with the help of the house owner, where doctors declared her dead.

JU Proctor Prof AKM Rashidul Alam said authorities first took the student to the university medical centre and later referred her to Enam Medical College Hospital.

He added that the body had been sent to the morgue of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

Officer-in-Charge of Ashulia Police Station Rubel Howlader said police were investigating the incident and legal action would be taken after receiving the autopsy report.
