Few number of long-route buses leave Gabtali terminal amid hartal

Some bus operators conducted trips from Gabtali Inter District Bus Terminal in Dhaka with limited number of passengers on Thursday amid the dawn to dusk strike enforced by main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party.

Hanif Paribahan operated nine trips on Dhaka-Khulna route between 6:15 and 11:30am and more buses would be operated.

 

One of the Hanif Paribahan executives said that they were getting lower number of passengers than usual.

Nazrul Islam, counter operator of Rabeya Paribahan, said that they operated a trip from Gabtali facing loss.

Ruling Awami League supporters were seen sitting at the terminal as police teams were seen patrolling the area.

Mohammad Bablu Dewan, a resident of Bogura was seen bargaining fare with staff of RB Travel, a long bus operator company on Dhaka-Rangpur route.

He said that he came to Dhaka a week ago on medical purpose and now was returning home to arrange money for continuing treatment.

Kabir Hossain, a staff of RB Travel, said that the number of passengers was very low on the day, and they were collecting passengers from Savar and Baipail.

He said that usually they operate at least five to six trips between 6:00am and 12:00pm but on Thursday they operated only two trips till 12:00pm.
