Dhaka University (DU) has announced the suspension of all classes and examinations from Monday (9 March) until 28 March, coinciding with the Eid holiday, following a directive from the Ministry of Education.

The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the Syndicate Management Team (SMT) on Sunday night, chaired by DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan.

During the meeting, authorities reviewed a government notification and a letter from the University Grants Commission (UGC). In line with these directives, all academic activities will remain temporarily suspended.

University offices, however, will operate as usual on Monday. Authorities said further decisions regarding administrative activities after 9 March will be announced later.

A press release signed by Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, Director of the Public Relations Department of Dhaka University, was issued in this regard on Sunday.
