Delay in Rohingya repatriation to hamper security, stability: PM

Sahwdesh DesK: Prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday in parliament said a delay in repatriation of Rohingyas might hamper security and stability of Bangladesh.

Responding to a question of Awami League MP Nur Mohammad, the prime minister told parliament that it was very tough for to arrange foods, clothes and accommodation for the over 11 lakh Myanmar citizens for an indefinite time.

‘If we can’t send them back soon, there is an apprehension that our security and stability will be hampered,’ she added.

‘This is why the government has been making diplomatic efforts to reach a permanent solution since the very beginning of the crisis for send the forcibly displaced Rohingyas back to their homeland,’ she said.

Sheikh Hasina said the Rohingyas people, who were deprived of basic rights by the Myanmar authorities, were naturally suffering from dissatisfaction.
