The government has appointed Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology professor ASMA Haseeb as the first-ever vice-chancellor of Dhaka Central University.

The Secondary and Higher Education Division under the education ministry issued a circular in this regard on Sunday night.

The circular read that following the Dhaka Central University University Ordinance-2026, professor Abdul Haseeb Chowdhury, was appointed as the vice-chancellor of Dhaka Central University for the next four years.

The conditions for the newly appointed VC are — his appointments will be in effect from the day of his joining; for the post he will get salary and other benefits as per his present post; he will get other facilities as per the rules, he will stay on the respective campus always as the chief executive officer and the president, also the chancellor can cancel his appointment anytime if necessary.

The newly appointed vice-chancellor is a professor of department of nanomaterials and ceramic engineering at BUET.
