Bangladeshi youth injured in BSF firing at C’nawabganj border

A Bangladesh national was injured in firing by the Indian Border Security Force in the Baghachipara border area of Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj on early Saturday.

The injured, Shahidul Islam, 22, son of Anarul Islam of village Bagachipara, was admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.

 

Sankar K Biswas, in-charge of RMCH emergency department, said that family members admitted Shahidul to the hospital with a bullet injury at about 5:00am.

‘Shahidul was hit by the BSF personnel with a bullet in his right chest. He is now at the Operation Theatre as he needs an immediate operation,’ he added.

Confirming the BSF firing at Baghachipara border near Sonamasjid Land Port area, 59th (Rohanpur) BGB battalion commander lieutenant colonel Golam Kibria told New Age that he heard that a Bangladesh national was injured in the BSF firing during an smuggling attempt in the border area.

‘We have also recovered twenty-five bottles of phensedyl from the Bagachipara border and we will file a case with the local police station in this connection,’ he added.
