Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Dr Mohammad Abdul Momen, and two commissioners — Mian Mohammad Ali Akbar Azizi and Brigadier General (Retd) Hafiz Ahsan Farid — have submitted their resignation letters.
Commissioner Mian Mohammad Ali Akbar Azizi informed journalists on Tuesday (3 March) that the resignation letters had been submitted to the Cabinet Division at the Secretariat.
“I have resigned, citing personal reasons. It was not under any pressure; I have stepped down in accordance with due process. A new board will be formed. I wish them well,” he said.
Dr Momen was appointed Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission on 10 December 2024. At the same time, the two commissioners were also appointed.
According to the notification issued at the time, they were appointed as commissioners under Section 6(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004 (Act No. 5 of 2004). In accordance with Section 5(1) of the Act, Dr Mohammad Abdul Momen was appointed Chairman of the Commission.
Under the terms of their appointment, the Chairman’s salary, allowances, other benefits and rank were equivalent to those of a judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, while the two commissioners were accorded the salary, allowances, other benefits and rank equivalent to those of judges of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court.
