The Bangladesh Film Certification Board has been reconstituted with 15 members, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

The notification, signed by the ministry’s Deputy Secretary Mohammad Aslam Molla on 29 July, said the board had been reconstituted in accordance with the Bangladesh Film Certification Act.

Film researcher and former president of the Bangladesh Chalachchitra Sangbadik Samity (BACHSAS) Abdur Rahman has been appointed as a new member of the board. Actress Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed, lyricist Prince Mahmud and singer Dithi Anwar also been included as members.

The secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting will serve as the board’s chairman, while the vice-chairman of the Bangladesh Film Certification Board will act as its member-secretary.

Other members include the additional secretary (film) of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, a representative from the Law and Justice Division, a representative from the Press Wing of the Prime Minister’s Office, a representative from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the managing director of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC), Bangladesh Film Exhibitors’ Association President Awlad Hossain, Bangladesh Film Directors Association President Shaheen Suman, and Bangladesh Film Artists Association President Shiba Shanu.

The board has been reconstituted to make the film certification process more effective, transparent and coordinated, according to the notification.
