A 40-year-old auto-rickshaw driver was stabbed to death allegedly by muggers at Basabo in Dhaka on early Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Yusuf Sadhu, son of Chan Mia of Araihazar upazila of Narayanganj district.

Quoting Shakil Mia, nephew of the deceased, Md Manakka, sub-inspector of Sabujbagh Police Station, said that Yusuf, father of three children, used to live in Jatrabari’s Kajla area alone while his was living in Narayanganj.

Muggers waylaid Yusuf around 4:30am under the Khilgaon flyover and stabbed him indiscriminately apparently to snatch his battery-run auto-rickshaw, leaving him injured.

Later, he was taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where the doctors declared him dead at about 5:15am.
