Inspector general of police Bahrul Alam on Tuesday said that they had identified about 24,000 centres as risky and medium risky in the forthcoming national election scheduled for February 12.
‘We have classified two types of risky centres — 8,770 high risky centres and 16,000 medium risky centres. We have identified around 24,000 centres as high risky and medium risky,’ said IGP Baharul Alam responding to journalists at a press conference held at the Police Headquarters ahead of the 13th national election.
He said that it was an ongoing evaluation over the risky centres and it might be changed considering the situation.
‘We will provide body cameras, additional forces and technological surveillance to ensure security,’ he said.
The IGP Bahrul also explained the three tier security measures during the election with deployment of 1,87,603 police members.
‘Firstly, 83,789 members of forces will be deployed at the polling centres as static force and they will ensure the centre security and fair voting process,’ said the IGP.
He said that mobile team would continue patrolling in all areas and observe the situation secondly.
‘Thirdly, we have prepared striking forces to tackle the emergency situation in important areas,’ he said.
