White Paper hosts art camp at historic Birulia Zamidar Bari

The art organisation White Paper organised a day-long art camp at the historic Birulia Zamidar Bari at Savar in Dhaka on Friday, aiming to strengthen the mutual exchange of ideas between artists and bridge the connection between contemporary art and heritage sites.

During the camp, artists created works based on the riverside landscape of Birulia and the historic architecture of the Birulia Zamidar Bari, which was built nearly 200 years ago.

Artist organiser Sonya Binta Hasan stated that the creative work of artists within historical environments will inspire the new generation to take an interest in art and culture. She added that the camp was organised as part of their regular activities to promote Bangladeshi artists and art.

Around 70 young and renowned artists from across the country participated in the camp, including M A Ahad Polash, Tahsina Hafez, Kaniz Manawar Tultul, Mumana Islam, Anjuman Ara, Samir Kumar Bairage, Biplab Roy, Shamima Rasul Saima, Anamika Shabnam, Appollo Nowroz, Nilima Sarker, and Nazma Begum Beauty.

Renowned painter Biren Shome attended the camp as the chief guest. Professor Alauddin Ahmed, chairman of the department of Fine Arts at the University of Development Alternative, senior artist S M Wahiduzzaman, professor A A M Kaoser Hassan Togor of Dhaka University’s sculpture department, and artists Gitanka Debdip Datta, Md Shajedul Islam, and Biplob Chakroborty were also present as special guests at the event.

White Paper began its journey in 2021 to facilitate effective communication between renowned and young artists at home and abroad, and to put Bangladesh on the global art map.
