Law Minister Advocate Md Asaduzzaman said on Friday that he wants to believe that former prime minister Sheikh Hasina will return to Bangladesh in December and face the legal process.

“I also want to believe that she will return in December and face the law. The matter will proceed through the legal process,” he said while addressing a memorial meeting for noted artist Mustafa Monwar at Shailkupa Upazila Parishad auditorium in Jhenaidah as the chief guest.

“We believe that no matter how powerful a person may be, the law is more powerful. The law will take its own course,” the minister added.

Speaking on the judiciary, Asaduzzaman said it still faces various challenges.

“Some may say corruption is the biggest problem, others may point to the influence of brokers or structural weaknesses. But in my view, the greatest challenge is the lack of judges with strong moral and human values,” he said.

He said judges should see their profession not as an ordinary job but as a responsibility to uphold justice.

“If judges discharge their duties with that sense of responsibility, I believe the country will achieve truly independent and impartial justice,” he added.
