Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ali Hossain Fakir has said there is no security risk surrounding Eid and warned that action will be taken against anyone charging excessive fares during Eid travel.

He made the remarks on Tuesday morning while visiting the Gabtoli Bus Terminal, noting that police are actively working to reduce traffic congestion on highways.

The IGP said that during Eid, people often have to wait for hours on highways. To prevent unnecessary traffic jams caused by random parking and other avoidable reasons, the traffic department has been instructed to ensure congestion does not worsen. Police are also working at the local level to ease traffic.

He added that unplanned parking and picking up or dropping off passengers at random places significantly increase traffic congestion. He expressed hope that Eid travel will improve if everyone remains aware and responsible.

He further stated that if anyone is charged extra fare, they should report it directly to the police, and appropriate action will be taken.
