The resignation of state minister for liberation war affairs Ishraque Hossain was formally accepted by president Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday.

The Cabinet Division issued a notification in this regard on the day confirming his departure from the cabinet.

Following his resignation, the cabinet now has 50 members, including 27 full ministers, including the prime minister, and 23 state ministers.

Ishraque, a member of parliament for Dhaka-6, announced his resignation at a press conference at the National Press Club on Monday afternoon.

He submitted his written resignation letter on Monday evening, which was sent to the president through prime minister Tarique Rahman in accordance with the rules, sources at the Cabinet Division said.

Ishraque had been serving as state minister for liberation war affairs, with Ahmed Azam Khan serving as the minister of the ministry.
