Agriculture, fisheries and livestock minister Amin Ur Rashid on Sunday said that 22,065 farmers including crop cultivators, fishermen, livestock, dairy and salt farmers would be provided with Krishak Cards on April 14.
He said this at a press conference at the secretariat in Dhaka.
On the first day of Bengali month Boishakh, prime minister Tarique Rahman would inaugurate the programme at Shaheed Marful Stadium at Tangail Sadar upazila, the agriculture minister said.
In the pre-pilot phase, selected farmers at 10 blocks in 10 upazilas of nine districts would be provided with the cards, the minister said, adding that on April 17, the programme would be launched in Cumilla.
Under the programme, 20,671 landless, marginal and small farmers would receive annual cash assistance of Tk 2,500 directly through the Krishak Card, he said.
