PM Tarique Rahman launches ‘Family Card’ programme

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Tuesday inaugurated the ‘Family Card’ programme aimed at ensuring financial security for low-income families.

The programme was formally inaugurated at around 11:00 am at the T&T playground in Banani, adjacent to the Korail slum in the capital.

Under the first phase of the initiative, 37,567 female-run households across the country will receive a monthly allowance.

According to government information, the pilot programme is being implemented in 15 wards under 13 city corporations or unions in 13 districts across the country.

In the initial stage, data from 67,854 female-run families were collected. After verification, 47,777 families were found to have valid information, of which 37,567 were selected to receive the allowance under the first phase of the programme.
