Bangladesh received the first consignment of 6,25,950 doses of Pfizer vaccine from the United States on Monday night.
Under the CoVAX facility, a total of 25 lakh or 2.5 million doses of vaccine will arrive in the country in three separate consignments.
A flight of Emirates Airlines carrying the shots landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 11:20 pm.
The officials of the Ministry of Health, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), CMSD and Airport were present at the airport to receive the vaccine consignments.
The second consignment of 12,56,580 doses and the third shipment of 6,25,950 doses are expected to reach at 12:00am and 11:20 pm on Tuesday (October 5).
Earlier, a total of 36,04,480 doses of Pfizer vaccines arrived in the country from the United States under the Covax facilities.
