Boarder Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has arrested a ‘smuggler’ along with 20 gold bars measuring 2.33kg from Jibannagar in Chuadanga.
Acting on an intelligence report, Lieutenant Colonel Masud Parvez Rana, commander of the BGB-58 in Maheshpur, accompanied with his team took strategic position and intercepted a van driver at 9:00pm on Sunday.
They searched the van driver named Md Sahabul Mia and recovered 20 gold bars from his body. Sahabul is son of Moksed Mandal hailing from village Sadarpara under upazila Jibannagar of district Chuadanga.
Estimated value of the seized gold bars is Tk 1,99,77, 292.
