Ahead of the holy Eid-ul-Azha, the Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association has instructed that trucks carrying sacrificial animals must clearly display the name and address of the designated cattle market on banners attached to the front of the vehicles.
The information was announced in a press release sent to the media on Monday (18 May).
According to the statement, the association’s Secretary General, Md Saiful Alam, said that based on discussions and decisions made with the government, trucks transporting sacrificial animals—including cattle, goats, buffaloes, and other livestock—from different parts of the country for sale must visibly display the name and address of the destination market.
He said the measure would make it easier for law enforcement agencies to provide assistance and help reduce the risk of harassment or obstacles during transportation.
The statement further noted that if transporters face any difficulties while moving animals, they should seek assistance from law enforcement agencies. Truck owners and drivers have been urged to comply properly with the directive.
