A labour court in Dhaka on Wednesday granted bail to Navana Group vice chairman Sajedul Islam Shuvro and three other accused in a labour law case.
Judge Golam Azam of the First Labour Court of Dhaka granted their bail petitions following a hearing, court sources said.
Earlier in the day, police from Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station arrested Shuvro and produced him before the court. He subsequently sought bail, while three co-accused in the same case also filed separate bail applications. The court granted all four petitions after hearing the matter.
According to sources familiar with the case, the First Labour Court had previously issued an arrest warrant against Shuvro in connection with a labour law case filed over the alleged non-payment of nearly Tk 2.3 million in dues to a former official of Aftab Automobiles.
Police had reportedly taken position outside Shuvro’s residence on Tuesday night to execute the warrant but were unable to enter the premises until the early hours of Wednesday, when he was eventually arrested.

Further proceedings in the case will continue in accordance with the court’s directives.
