Bollywood veteran Mithun Chakraborty is now reportedly set to share the screen with Superstar Rajinikanth in the much-anticipated “Jailer 2”, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar.

Reports suggest that Mithun will be joining the sets later this week for his pivotal role.

According to India Today, Mithun Chakraborty won’t just make a cameo but will be seen in a full-fledged character. The Bollywood star’s role will reportedly hold significance to the core narrative.

Interestingly, Rajinikanth had earlier made special appearances in Mithun’s films—“Bhrashtachar” (1989) in Hindi and “Bhagya Devta” (1997) in Bengali. This time, however, the tables have turned, and fans will finally see the duo in a larger, impactful collaboration.

“Jailer 2” is being filmed across Chennai and other Indian locations. The sequel carries forward the high-octane action and stylish storytelling that made the first film a runaway global success.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth continues to ride on the blockbuster wave of “Coolie”, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.

As reported by the Sacnilk website, the action film stormed the box office with an opening of Rs65 crore on Day1. It was followed by Rs54.75 crore and Rs39.5 crore over the weekend. Even though collections dipped on Monday to Rs12.15 crore, the overall tally has already crossed a whopping Rs206 crore.

Meanwhile, there are also negative reviews coming in for “Coolie”. Some say that the movie had several plot holes and didn’t rise above the expectations. An excerpt from ETimes review says, “Though this film may not reach the heights of Kaithi or Vikram, it is far from disappointing, delivering a thoroughly entertaining experience that keeps audiences engaged. Anirudh’s music is a highlight — the songs are proper crowd-pleasers, and the BGM elevates action sequences brilliantly, though emotional scenes stick to somewhat stereotypical musical cues.”
