Customs officials arrested a man along with 28 gold bars weighing around 3kg at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram on Sunday.
The arrestee was identified as Shafi Alam.
He returned from Saudi Arabia by a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines at around 10:20am.
