The National Consensus Commission vice-chair Professor Ali Riaz on Thursday said that political parties were primarily and fundamentally responsible for implementing the July Charter.

Briefing journalists while resuming the NCC’s dialogue session at Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka, he said, ‘If necessary, the consensus Commission will convene again with all stakeholders to discuss the implementation process in detail and hold further talks with the political parties.’

The NCC will conclude its second-round dialogue session today.

Thirty political parties will take final decision on provisioning the appointment process of the Public Service Commission, the Anti-Corruption Commission, the Comptroller and Auditor General, and the Ombudsman by the constitution, structure, member selection process, and jurisdiction of an upper house, the election and power of the president, fundamental principles of the state, and other unresolved issues.

Till 1:00pm, the NCC announced that the parties, except the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and its like-minded allies, agreed about provisioning the appointment process of the PSC, ACC, CAG and the Ombudsman by the constitution.
