Speaker of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad, retired Major Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram, on Thursday resigned from the standing committee of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party.
Hafiz Uddin, elected from the Bhola-3 constituency, was unanimously elected as the speaker during the maiden session of the parliament.
‘I will try my best to remain neutral,’ Hafiz said in his first speech after being elected.
