An additional chief metropolitan magistrate court in Dhaka on Sunday extended the deadline for submitting the further investigation report in the case of the killing of Inquilab Mancha convener Sharif Osman Hadi by 17 more days.
The court of Dhaka additional chief metropolitan magistrate Jashita Islam deferred the submission date to July 15 as the Criminal Investigation Department of the police failed to submit the report on Sunday, said Dhaka Metropolitan Police prosecution division sub-inspector Rokonuzzaman.
With this, the court deferred the date for the 16th time.
Earlier, Dhaka courts on January 20, January 25, January 29, February 3, February 9, February 15, February 19, February 26, March 11, April 2, April 19, May 5, May 17, June 7, and June 17 extended the time for completing the probe and submitting the report.
Hadi, also an organiser of the July uprising, died at a hospital in Singapore on December 18, six days after he was shot in the head in Dhaka on December 12, 2025.
On January 15, a Dhaka court ordered the CID to conduct further probes in the murder case as the plaintiff of the case filed a no-confidence petition against the charge sheet submitted by the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
Amid protests, the interim government on February 6 sought assistance from the United Nations to ensure a proper investigation into the murder.
Hadi murder prime suspects, Faisal Karim Masud and his associate Alamgir Hossain, fled to India and were arrested by the West Bengal Police Special Task Force in Bongaon border area of West Bengal in March.
The Bangladesh government on March 8 sought consular access to the suspects.
