Four workers injured in Dhaka Regency AC fire

Four staffers working on AC maintenance suffered burns in a fire reportedly caused by an electrical short circuit while air-conditioning repair work was underway at Dhaka Regency hotel in Khilkhet area of the capital on Friday morning.

The injured were rescued and taken to the emergency department of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.

 

The victims were identified as Md Mansur Ali, 32, Md Abdul Matin, 67, Mohammad Mahi, 17, and Md Abdul Jalil, 67.

Their colleague Md Imran said the incident occurred while they were working on an air conditioner on the ground floor of Regency Hotel in Khilkhet. A sudden short circuit sparked a fire, leaving the four workers burned. All the injured are staff members of the hotel.

Assistant professor Shawon Bin Rahman, residential doctor at the emergency department of the Burn Institute, said Mansur suffered 21 per cent burns, Abdul Matin 5 per cent, Mahi 5 per cent, and Abdul Jalil 7 per cent.

He said one of the victims has been admitted to the hospital while the other three are under observation.
