Feasibility studies were is underway for a Tk 3,500 crore project to develop farm-access road communication networks in the haor region, state minister for local government Mir Shahe Alam said on Tuesday.

Addressing Sunamganj-1 lawmaker Kamruzzaman Kamrul’s urgent public interest notice during the 10th day of 13th Jatiya Sangsad’s 1st session, he, however, said the government remained cautious about potential environmental impacts, referring to the controversial Nikli–Itna–Mithamoin road in Kishoreganj.

‘Prime minister Tarique Rahman has strictly instructed that no project should be undertaken if it disrupts natural water flow,’ he said.
