EC postpones election to 119 UP in Khulna division

Shawdesh desk: The Election Commission (EC) has postponed elections to 119 union parishads in Khulna division as the division is witnessing a sharp surge in coronavirus (Covid-19) cases.
The commission made the announcement on Thursday noon.
The by-election of the Laxmipur-2 constituency, however, will be held on time as a result of constitutional obligation.
Earlier, Khulna divisional commissioner requested the Election Commission to postpone the elections to 123 union parishads in Satkhira, Khulna and Bagerhat areas due to a rise in coronavirus cases.
