Content creator Rakib killed by unidentified killers at Shaheed Minar

A social media content creator was gunned down by unidentified killers in the capital’s Central Shaheed Minar area on Sunday night.

The deceased was identified as Rakib Ahmed, 25; he hailed from Bhola and a was resident of Nazimuddin Road in Old Dhaka.

 

Dhaka Medical College Hospital police outpost in-charge inspector Md Faruk said that Rakib died at about 10:30pm after he was admitted to the hospital with bullet and stabbing injuries.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police assistant commissioner for Ramna zone Mazharul Islam said that the incident took place at about 9:30pm at the Central Shaheed Minar.

Four bullets were fired targeting Rakib, said Mazharul, adding that one person was detained in connection with the incident.

‘The police are working on the incident,’ he added.

Mohammad Ishan, who brought Rakib to the hospital, said that three to four youths shot at Rakib and then hacked him with a sharp weapon before fleeing.

Later, Ishan along with other people rescued Rakib and brought him to the emergency department of DMCH where he died while undergoing treatment.

Rakib had a bullet wound in his head and a deep stabbing wound in the right side of his chest.
