Bidisha Siddique jailed for 2yrs in fraud case

A Dhaka court on Wednesday sentenced Bidisha Siddique, former wife of the late president Hussain Muhammad Ershad, to two years of imprisonment in a fraud case filed with Gulshan Police Station.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Jamshed Alam delivered the judgement on Wednesday afternoon.
The court imposed a fine of Tk10,000, in default, she will have to serve one more month in jail.
Hemayet Uddin Khan, the legal counsel representing the plaintiff, confirmed the details of the sentencing.
Since Bidisha is currently absconding, the magistrate issued an arrest warrant alongwith a conviction warrant to secure her apprehension, the lawyer said.
