If you’ve ever dreamed of living out your own Night at the Museum moment, the American Museum of Natural History is making it happen once again—this time after a five-year hiatus!
The legendary A Night at the Museum: The Overnight Experience is officially back, inviting kids ages 6-12 (and their caregivers) to roll out their sleeping bags and spend the night surrounded by towering dinosaurs, dazzling dioramas, and yes, that iconic 94-foot-long blue whale.
First launched in 2006, the museum’s overnight program quickly became one of NYC’s most magical family traditions.
After a five-year pause, the sleepovers are finally returning, and this time the experience promises all-new surprises.
From flashlight-led fossil tours to scavenger hunts, trivia, karaoke, and even a bedtime story, the after-dark adventure transforms the museum into your personal playground. Explorers can:
It’s the ultimate way to experience the museum without the daytime crowds—and with plenty of surprises that make the halls come alive.

The first sleepover kicks off Friday, October 24, followed by Saturday, November 22 and Friday, December 5. More dates are slated throughout 2026, including:
Tickets are $225 per person and include all activities, a bedtime snack, and breakfast the next morning.

One thing’s certain: you won’t want to wait—these sleepovers sell out quickly.

The sleepover is designed for kids ages 6–12 and their caregivers (though we’re still crossing our fingers they’ll bring back the adults-only version someday).
Guests bunk down on pre-assigned cots in museum halls—yes, that means you could end up snoozing under the T. rex or next to the iconic blue whale. Just don’t forget your sleeping bag and pillow!
Yep! Every ticket includes a bedtime snack and light breakfast. You can also pre-purchase heartier dinner options when you book.
