Ad-Din expresses regret over unfortunate incident involving journos

Ad-Din Hospital authorities have expressed their sincere regret over an unfortunate incident related to journalists on May 30.

A press release issued on Sunday morning, signed by Tarikul Islam Mukul, Director (HR and Company Affairs) of the Ad-Din Foundation, conveyed the apology.

On May 27, six newborns died in an accidental incident at Ad-Din Hospital. Following the tragedy, representatives from the Ministry of Health, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the police, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), and other authorities visited the hospital. At the same time, the government formed an investigation committee to examine the incident, the release said.

The continuous visits by various authorities, alongwith the presence of a large number of journalists, had placed considerable mental pressure on the hospital’s healthcare staff over several days. As a result, admitted patients and people seeking medical services also experienced significant inconvenience.

The press release further stated that on May 30, the Health Adviser and other senior officials visited the hospital. After they left, a large number of journalists attempted to enter the hospital. Considering the interests and privacy of patients receiving treatment, the hospital authorities tried to discourage journalists from entering the premises.

During a conversation between hospital staff and journalists, one journalist referred to the hospital’s cleaning staff as ‘sweepers,’ which the workers perceived as disrespectful and insulting. Feeling offended, they became agitated and subsequently requested that the journalists leave the hospital.

Senior hospital officials who were present at the time attempted to calm the staff and bring the situation under control.
