SAK Ekramuzzaman, sponsor shareholder and managing director of RAK Ceramics (Bangladesh), has announced plans to sell 885,000 shares of the ceramics manufacturer through the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges.
Ekramuzzaman, who is the proprietor of Mohammed Trading, said the shares would be sold at the prevailing market price, according to a disclosure published on the Dhaka Stock Exchange website on Tuesday.
Based on Monday’s closing price of Tk 31.40, the shares are worth around Tk 2.77 crore.
Following the announcement, RAK Ceramics’ share price fell by 1.59 per cent to Tk 30.90 on the DSE yesterday.
Ekramuzzaman is one of the major local investors in RAK Ceramics and is involved in several businesses in Bangladesh. He also serves on the boards of RAK Power Pvt and RAK Security and Services, subsidiaries of RAK Ceramics (Bangladesh), according to the company’s annual report.
The company’s financial performance has weakened significantly. RAK Ceramics Bangladesh posted a net loss of Tk 39.59 crore in the year ended December 31, 2025, compared with Tk 2.73 crore a year earlier. A sharp increase in finance costs eroded profits despite double-digit revenue growth.
Established in 1998, RAK Ceramics Bangladesh manufactures and markets tiles and sanitaryware under the RAK Ceramics brand, backed by its UAE-based parent company.
The company’s manufacturing plant is located in Gazipur, about 60 kilometres from Dhaka. It has around 300 sales outlets across major demand centres, supported by a distribution network of 150 dealers and sub-dealers nationwide.
